They seem to be having some kind of moment this year but which brand of liquid lipstick is the best? or the right one for you. I have tried a variety and here’s my verdict.
I have recently ordered the KYLIE COSMETICS MINI LIQUID LIPSTICKS and they are winging their way to my house as we speak. I will add them in to this line up when i receive them so keep an out out for that.
MAC, HOURGLASS, STILA, REVLON, NYX and LAURA MERCIER
Here our my top picks for liquid lipsticks I have tried…
When these first came out i feel like the MAC liquid lipsticks received mixed reviews. They kind of blended in to the background behind their more popular matte lipsticks.
However i think these are one of the best formulas.
The packaging is small, compact and the oval shaped applicator picks up the right amount of product in the center.
The formula feels quite thin and the applicator actually tickles the lips when used. This took a little getting used to.
You can re-apply over the top once and does not look too dry.
They are dry but not too bad and they feel comfortable.
STILA STAY ALL DAY LIQUID LIPSTICK – Bellissima – £16
I have been eyeing these for a while and the Stila Liquid lipsticks have been getting a lot of hype recently.
The packaging is long and slim with a gold top.
The applicator is slim and quite round like a traditional lip gloss applicator.
The sweet smell of vanilla is apparent straight away when using.
I went for a nude colour this time – colours included are browns, nudes, pinks and reds.
The formula of these stay on well, however they feel very dry.
The application is quite smooth but they show up all of the lines on my lips, Especially the lighter nude colours.
Reapplying over the top is a no no. The formula will flake, its also not too flattering after a bit of wear.
I do really like them for longevity and for a night out. Not great for a lunch or dinner date however.
REVLON ULTRA HD MATTE LIPCOLOR – FLIRT (PEACHY ORANGE) £8.99
The Revlon liquid lipsticks really surprised me, limited colours but i absolutely love them.
The packaging is shorter and flatter with a frost glass effect and silver top.
The formula goes on smooth with a diamond shape applicator.
The smell is quite an intense sweet fruity scent but this goes away once on the lips.
These last through eating and you can easily re-apply over the top.
If you are looking for a drugstore liquid lipstick i highly recommend these.
HOURGLASS OPAQUE ROUGE LIQUID LIPSTICK – BALLET £25
This was my first exploration into liquid lipsticks
The packaging is small, flat and very lightweight.
The applicator is easy and a diamond shape.
The formula feels smooth and these stay on all day.
They have a subtle smell but nothing overpowering.
The colours do dry darker than they look, this is quite normal for a liquid lipstick.
They are some of the most expensive that i have tried and i’m not sure if they are worth the price tag. However hourglass products are cruelty free which is great and have a big following at the moment.
NYX SOFT MATTE LIP CREAM – SMLc03 TOKYO £5.50
Small and compact this is the only one you cannot see the product through the packaging.
The formula is quite think and dry in texture, you need to blend this in with your finger over the lips when applied.
A doe foot applicator and the scent is almost the same as Revlon if not a little more vanilla, So quite strong.
These stay on for a good amount of time but not as long as the others.
They do not dry the lips too much and the price and colour range is great.
At £5.50 worth the buy. I always love how NYX is affordable and has great formulas.
LAURA MERCIER PAINT WASH LIQUID LIPCOLOUR – PETAL PINK £22
The applicator is more flat so needs a little more worth getting into the corners of the mouth.
These stay on amazingly and cover the lips totally. The formula feels thin and you can re-apply on top.
Which are your favourite liquid lipsticks?
